Differences in Types of Wood Sheets

I have a few options available for ordering and they vary on what you desire to use them for. I limit the types of wood due to quality issues with some types of wood, for example, I do not offer birch wood, though it is cheap, it warps extremely easily.

Wood Types:

MDF is the most common wood I offer for custom engravings because it is suited the best for coloring. It is available in 1/8th and 1/4th inches. MDF can be used for so many different projects and doesn't warp very easily. It also engraves very darkly.

Melamine is similar to MDF in that is has a MDF core. The surface is a melamine veneer, which is a synthetic wood texture. This is the type of wood that most kitchen cabinets are made from. It allows for consistent engraving. You cannot color this material, or it is not recommended.  This wood is available only in 1/4 inch.

For another wood textured sheet, Finished Bamboo is also available. This wood sheet is 1/8th (the thinnest available) and is not recommended to be painted. It is bamboo veneer with MDF core for consistent engraving.
